I loved your essay! I only quibble with the point that you wrote that when Stuart died, he was aware of what he was doing and his effect on people. It was reported that he was blind drunk at the time, and had been so for weeks previously. I'm a former alcololic and know that drinking that much can keep you from thinking clearly. He probably wasn't aware of the suicide's effect on himself, I think. Also he apparrently killed himself as a result of his second wife filing for divorce. I heard that when he was alive she tried to take his house from him and later apparrently withheld his royalties from his first family. I wouldn't think she was worth committing suicide over.
