A Confession
218b · 1 April 99
I made issue 218 up. Maybe you deduced that, or maybe it all
seemed way too plausible. The six drop-caps form an acrostic, but who checks for that? Anyway,
Mark Hill and Wishing Court Records never existed. This was either a story or an essay, I often
have trouble telling the difference between the two. You will have to judge for yourself, and I
haven't made up my mind yet, either, whether it's an example of the resolve it appeals for, or of
the very paralysis it despairs of. No doubt the St. Patricide review would have been funnier,
and I sat down half-expecting to write it. This came out instead.
Happy April Fool's Day.
