Here are my two simple single-factor quant-score predictions based on nothing but lunch-subsidy percentages. The blue line are actual quant scores, the green line is the result of a linear regression (qs = -7.8 ls + 1415, r = -.9!), and the red line is the result of a linear regression using the square roots of the lunch-subsidy percentages (qs = -80 sqrt ls + 1581). Both equations underestimate the achievements of the top schools, and the second one suggests that Littleton ought to pay for more lunches, but these are frighteningly precise correlations between technically independent variables.
